Drawing upon Inspiration

Since before this project I've been drawing inspiration from references and such. I felt this project process natural to me since I knew how to rely on references to make illustrations. However, the amount of pieces we needed to achieve was definitely scary. In the end, the hardest thing was coming up with ideas based on the same references just because I needed to fulfill the brief.

I realized, maybe too late, that I needed to experiment more and take shortcuts if I wanted to produce such a massive amount of work. I'm not satisfied with my entire body of work, but I'm happy I got to experiment with media I didn't value before. I was used to working slow and detailed, but this project helped me loosen up, which definitely helped me in future projects.

For the final outcome of this project, the single sheet book, I decided to compile my butterfly wings pattern studies since they gave the book a very united theme. I used Procreate to lay everything correctly, since I wanted the book to be simple and neat.
